Elders, or pastors, are the leaders of the church given over to preaching, teaching, counseling, and leading

  • Pastor Josh is happily married to Christina Henson and is a father to Cohen and Caleb. Josh loves the church, is grateful to be a part of Grace Covenant and is inspired by their fervent love for the Lord and His people. He is a firm believer in a ministry characterized by the ordinary means of grace. He has studied in Israel, was a missionary-teacher in Mexico for three years, is an avid cyclist, loves watching Star Wars with his kids, going to the beach with his family and reading good books. His favorite book in the Bible is Ecclesiastes.

  • Ken came to know the saving grace of the Lord Jesus Christ in the fall of 1983. A few months later he began attending our church and has been involved in increasing capacities ever since. Ken served as a Deacon for 20 years before his installment as an Elder in 2011. He retired from the Naval Reserve as a photographer in 2004 and retired from the US Postal Service in the spring of 2017. He currently serves the church as an administrative assistant as well as Director of the transitional house ministry for ex-offenders, The Bartimaeus House. Ken and his lovely wife Lori stay busy with ministry and keeping up with their three college-age sons: Joel, Luke and Noah. When he does get some free time Ken enjoys bicycle repair and restoration.

  • Calvin and his wife Barbara have been married for over 45 years and have been at Grace Covenant for 40 years. Calvin has served for 20 years as a treasurer and secretary on the deacon board. They have two children and love to spend their time perfecting their Ballroom, Square, and Round dancing skills.

  • Kenny Rhea is a native of Hampton Roads, born and raised in Norfolk. He began attending Grace in 2007 at the invitation of his brother and sister-in-law and was converted a year later under the ministry of former pastor Joe Gilliam. Kenny's service and love for the Grace Covenant community is evident to all and the church has been blessed by his diaconal service since 2012. Kenny stays busy working in the family business at R&R Motor Company and body shop. He and his beautiful wife Leeann love their enormous Goldendoodle Boomer and look forward to every minute they get to spend with their two grandsons Terrance and Gabriel.

  • A native of South Carolina, Scott Jones is happily married to Laurie Jones. They are the grateful parents of three children, Mackenzie, Jake, and Joseph. By God's grace, Scott was converted late in life in the summer of 2009. He was appointed as a deacon at Grace Covenant Church in 2011. He holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of South Carolina and a Master of Military Studies from the Marine Corps Command and Staff College in Quantico, Virginia. Scott is a Supply Corps Officer in the United States Navy where he has actively served since 1992. He has completed multiple deployments and one overseas tour with his family. He loves Grace Covenant Church and is blessed to witness the love its members illustrate toward one another in serving the Lord. As a deacon, Scott is honored to serve alongside Grace's leadership as the facilities manager and in any benevolent need the church may have. Scott loves walking with Laurie and is a novice triathlete/cyclist. He enjoys watching college football and movies, his favorite being Miracle, with their children. Scott’s favorite book of the Bible is Ephesians.

  • Matt and Tara Schultz have been married for almost twenty years and have three children: Mackenzie, Jamisenne, and Liam. The Lord began to draw Matt to Himself after a providential time of hardship in his teens, and converted him at the age of twenty-one. Matt holds a Working Chef/Business Certification from Baltimore International Culinary College. By God’s grace, Matt was given a heart for service early in life.  He has been working as a general restaurant manager for eleven years, and worked as an executive chef for several years before that. He was appointed as a deacon for Grace Covenant in 2014, and has a strong desire to serve Christ through good stewardship and benevolence toward the church and its body, in whatever capacity is needed. Seeing his family grow spiritually while sitting under the preached Word, and experiencing the love amongst members at Grace Covenant have been two of his greatest joys. Matt is a self-proclaimed “foodie” and enjoys a variety of cuisines and dining experiences while on dates with his wife. Originally from the Washington, D.C. area, Matt is (of course) an avid Redskins fan, and enjoys watching them play.  He also enjoys spending every spare moment he can with his family when he’s not working, whether it be taking them to the beach or watching Star Wars movies together. Having learned to embrace life “under the sun,” Matt’s favorite book of the Bible is Ecclesiastes.
